Takigahara Farm is located in Takigahara-cho, Komatsu City, Ishikawa Prefecture, a region rich in nature. It aims to disseminate new information from a rural area and foster a sustainable community. This project involves the renovation of the entire settlement, including accommodation facilities, a restaurant, a cafe, a bar & lounge, and a craft workshop, all converted from old houses.
Takigahara Farm was created as a place where people can experience new ways of living and working through nature, agriculture, and art. This facility was produced by Teruo Kurosaki, the founder of IDÉE, and aims to revitalize the region by utilizing old houses and the surrounding nature. The hostel "TAKIGAHARA CRAFT&STAY," which mainly features bunk beds, is a renovated 100-year-old house and offers an artistic space for design lovers.
Takigahara Farm is supported by staff who have moved from cities and abroad, drawn to the natural beauty of Takigahara. Various events, workshops, and agricultural experiences are held there, and before the pandemic, there were many foreign visitors, fostering vibrant intercultural exchange. Manager Reina Saito, along with Milo and Orion from the UK, are just some of the diverse people who have come together to offer hints for a new normal way of living and working in Takigahara.
At Takigahara Farm, local artisans create Yamanaka lacquerware in the on-site workshop, demonstrating the preservation of the region's craft culture. This initiative conveys that the local industrial culture and handcrafted lifestyle are still deeply rooted in the community, offering visitors a valuable experience.
Takigahara Farm's initiatives serve as an example of the potential for new ways of working and living in regional revitalization, offering hints for sustainable community development. By coexisting with nature, preserving local culture, and deepening its connections with diverse communities, Takigahara Farm continues to create new value from the countryside.
